Tody Alternatives for Couples (2026): 7 Chore Apps Compared
Tody alternatives for couples sharing housework: Sweepy, Nipto, Chap, Flatastic, Spotless and Cozi compared on sharing and price, plus EvenUS.
The best Tody alternatives for couples are Sweepy if you want a similar cleaning schedule with a leaderboard, Nipto if you want sharing and effort points without paying, Chap if you want a free shared chore list with unlimited members, and Flatastic if chores, shopping and shared costs belong in one app. Spotless and Cozi cover a calmer cleaning list and a whole-family organizer. EvenUS is a different kind of pick: it records how long chores really take and compares both partners' free time, but it is not a cleaning scheduler.
EvenUS is our own app. What we say about the others comes from their own websites and US App Store listings, checked on 3 November 2026, and ratings are the US App Store figures shown that day. Prices change, so check the listing before you pay.
Why couples look beyond Tody
Tody is a well-liked cleaning app: 4.8 from 11K ratings on the US App Store when we checked. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Android (there is no web version), and it gives every task its own realistic frequency and shows what is due, which its App Store listing describes as managing cleaning by indicators of actual need rather than arbitrary dates. Assigning or rotating chores is free on every plan, and its FairShare feature turns an agreed split into a monthly target for each person.
The catch for couples is sharing. Tody's free plan is the core cleaning plan for one person. For both of you to see the same live plan on your own phones you need Premium+, which on Tody's site is $25 a year for Duo (2 members), $40 for Family and $80 for Team, with a 30-day free trial. Couples who look elsewhere usually want sharing for free, want gamification of a different kind, or want an app that handles more than cleaning.

1. Sweepy: closest to Tody
Best for: couples who want a cleaning schedule with a bit of competition.
Sweepy invites family members or roommates to share the cleaning, gives each task up to 3 points, and has a family leaderboard. It runs on iPhone and Apple Watch and has an Android app. You can create as many custom tasks as you like for free; its site says a generated everyday checklist is a premium feature. Neither its site nor its App Store listing says whether inviting your partner needs premium, and Sweepy's site prints no prices, so check the App Store listing. One thing to know: its iPhone app had not been updated since February 2026 when we checked.
For a side-by-side, see Tody vs Sweepy, and Sweepy alternatives if it is not quite right either.
2. Nipto: best free sharing
Best for: couples who want both phones on the same chore list without paying.
Nipto is built as a game for you and your partner, your family or your roommates. Each task earns 5 to 100 "eggs" depending on the effort, and Nipto rotates a task between you based on who did it last. Inviting people is not among the Premium extras its site lists, and the free plan includes 5 schedules; Premium adds unlimited schedules, stats and other extras, with one purchase covering everyone. It works on iPhone, Android or in a browser. Nipto's site does not print the Premium price.
3. Chap: best plain shared chore list
Best for: couples who want a simple list with names on it, not a game.
Chap says it is for couples, roommates and families. The free plan includes unlimited members and assigning chores to anyone. Nudges and the full history are Premium ($39.99 a year on its site and the App Store); its site does not say which tier rotations are on. It runs on iPhone and Android.
4. Flatastic: best for chores plus shopping and costs
Best for: couples who want one app for the cleaning plan, the grocery list and who owes whom.
Flatastic names couples alongside roommates and families. It has a chore rotation with a score system, a shared shopping list, an expense tracker and household notes, on iOS, Android and a web app. Its Premium page lists chore history, notes on chores and no ads as the chore extras, which suggests shared chores are on the free plan, though it does not say so in those words. Its site gives no prices. See Flatastic alternatives for more.
5. Spotless: best calm cleaning view
Best for: couples who want to see at a glance what needs cleaning, without points or rankings.
Spotless shows how much each task is in need of cleaning and syncs rooms and tasks across everyone's devices. Its site says household members join free but the household needs a subscription. It is on iPhone and iPad; its site has no Android link. No prices are printed on its site.
6. Cozi: best if you also need a family calendar
Best for: families who want chores in the same place as the calendar and shopping list.
Cozi is a family organizer, free for every family member on every device, with Gold at $39 a year. Its site describes a new Cozi Chores option for repeating tasks and lets you assign family members to a to-do or chores list. It is not a cleaning scheduler like Tody, but it saves a second app. See Cozi alternatives if you are weighing organizers.
Where EvenUS fits
Best for: couples where the argument is not "what needs cleaning?" but "who is doing it?".
EvenUS is our app. Chores is one shared housework list with an owner on each chore, and each check-off records the minutes the chore really took. Chore reminders go only to the chore's owner and never say who set them. The time you log becomes part of a comparison of each partner's free hours in a week, alongside paid work, travel and children, and EvenUS suggests one swap a week to try.

Its limits: there are no points, streaks or leaderboards, it is built to show how housework is shared rather than to plan a cleaning routine, and it only works for two people. It also handles shared costs, which Tody does not, but it never connects to a bank. It is in closed testing, so it is not on the app stores yet. One subscription covers both of you: a 7-day free trial with no card, then $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year (USD reference prices, set per region by the app stores).
Which one should you pick?
- "We want Tody, but shared for free." Nipto or Chap.
- "We like a bit of competition." Sweepy or Nipto.
- "We also need a shopping list and bill split." Flatastic.
- "We need a family calendar too." Cozi.
- "The list is fine; one of us still does more." EvenUS, and our guide to dividing chores without a fight.

Frequently asked questions
Is Tody free for couples?
Tody's free plan is the core cleaning plan for one person, and you can assign or rotate chores on it. For both of you to see the same live plan on your own phones, Tody's site says you need Premium+, which is $25 a year for Duo.
What is the best free alternative to Tody?
Nipto and Chap both let you share with your partner for free. Nipto's free plan has 5 schedules; Chap's free plan has unlimited members and assigning.
Is OurHome still available?
On 3 November 2026, OurHome's App Store and Google Play listings were no longer available, so we have left it out.
Does EvenUS replace Tody?
Partly. EvenUS has a shared chore list with owners and reminders, but it is not a cleaning planner like Tody. Its purpose is to show how housework is shared.
How we compared them
We read each app's own website and its US App Store listing on 3 November 2026 and only state a fact when both agreed or the app's own page said it. We give a price only when the app's own site prints it; where it does not, we say so. Ratings are the US App Store figures shown that day; Google Play stars are left out. We have not run a timed test of these apps. EvenUS facts come from our own feature documentation. If anything here is wrong or out of date, email support@evenus.app.
