Flatastic Alternatives (2026): Chores, Lists and Bills

Flatastic alternatives for US roommates and couples: Splitwise, Settle Up, Nipto, Chap, Tody and Cozi compared, and where EvenUS fits for two people.

By · Updated

Flatastic does three jobs in one app: a chore rotation, a shared shopping list and a record of shared costs. The best alternatives usually do one of those jobs well. For costs, Splitwise and Settle Up. For chores, Nipto or Chap if you want to share for free, or Tody for a cleaning plan. For lists and a calendar, Cozi. EvenUS is the one other app here that covers chores, shopping and shared costs together, but only for a couple, never for a shared house.

EvenUS is our own app. Everything we say about the others comes from their own websites and US App Store listings, checked on 3 November 2026, and ratings are the US App Store figures shown that day. Check the current price before you pay.

Why people look beyond Flatastic

Flatastic is built for shared homes. Its site speaks to roommates, families and couples, and its App Store listing describes a chore chart, grocery list, bill tracker and household notes in one place, with chores that rotate automatically and a score system. It runs on iOS, Android and the web, and it is still actively updated (a new iPhone version came out the day we checked). Premium adds things like chore history and notes on chores; its site does not print prices.

In the US it is a small app: 315 ratings on the US App Store when we checked, against tens of thousands for the bigger single-purpose apps. People look elsewhere because their roommates already use Splitwise, because they want a stronger chore app, or because they are a couple and want more than a shared house app gives them.

1. Splitwise: best for shared costs

Best for: roommates and couples who mainly need to know who owes whom.

Splitwise tracks shared expenses with housemates, partners, trips and groups, on iPhone, Android and the web. The free tier allows 4 expenses a day per person; Splitwise Pro removes the cap and adds receipt scanning, default splits and, in the US only, importing purchases from a linked card. Its site does not print a Pro price. It has no chores or shopping list. See Splitwise alternatives for couples and Splitwise vs Tricount.

2. Settle Up: best free cost tracker with a web app

Best for: shared houses that want a free tally everyone can open.

Settle Up names roommates and couples among its users and runs on iOS, Android and the web. It supports even and unequal splits, and you can share a group link so others see the balance in a browser without downloading the app. It is free with ads; its site does not print the Premium price. Tricount alternatives covers similar apps.

3. Nipto: best free chore sharing

Best for: households who liked Flatastic's rotation and points.

Nipto is a chore game for partners, families or roommates. Tasks earn 5 to 100 "eggs" depending on effort, and Nipto rotates a task based on who did it last. Inviting people is not among the Premium extras its site lists, and the free plan includes 5 schedules. It runs on iPhone, Android or in a browser.

4. Chap: best plain chore list

Best for: roommates or couples who want names on chores and nothing else.

Chap's free plan includes unlimited members and assigning chores to anyone; nudges and the full history are Premium ($39.99 a year on its site and the App Store); its site does not say which tier rotations are on. It runs on iPhone and Android.

5. Tody: best cleaning plan

Best for: households who care most about keeping on top of the cleaning.

Tody shows what is due based on each task's own frequency. Assigning and rotating chores is free, but a live plan shared on everyone's phone needs Premium+ (Duo $25 a year, Family $40, Team $80 on its site). See Tody alternatives.

6. Cozi: best for lists and a calendar

Best for: families who want shopping lists next to a shared calendar.

Cozi gives the whole family one account with a calendar, shopping and to-do lists and meal planning, free with ads or $39 a year for Gold. It does not track shared costs. See Cozi alternatives.

Where EvenUS fits

Best for: couples who liked having chores, groceries and costs in one app, and want to know whether the split is fair.

EvenUS is our app. Like Flatastic, it has a shared chore list, a shared shopping list and shared costs in one place. The differences: it only works for two partners, never for a shared house; the shopping list turns a finished shop into one shared expense; each chore records the real minutes it took; and costs can be split by income as well as evenly. On top, it compares each partner's free hours in a week and suggests one swap.

The EvenUS shared shopping list with five items, two ticked under In the trolley, and the Done shopping button
One list on both phones; when the shopping is done it becomes one shared expense.

Its limits: no roommates, no bank connection, no points or scores, and it is in closed testing, so it is not on the app stores yet. One subscription covers both of you: a 7-day free trial with no card, then $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year (USD reference prices, set per region by the app stores). Our EvenUS vs Honeydue vs Flatastic comparison goes further.

Which one should you pick?

  • "Three or more of us share a house." Splitwise or Settle Up for costs, plus Nipto or Chap for chores.
  • "We only argue about money." Splitwise or Settle Up.
  • "We only argue about cleaning." Nipto, Chap or Tody.
  • "We're a couple and want it all in one app." EvenUS, or stay with Flatastic.
  • "We split rent and can't agree how." Read how to split rent fairly.

Frequently asked questions

Is Flatastic available in the US?

Yes. It is on the US App Store (4.7 from 315 ratings on 3 November 2026), on Android, and as a web app.

What is the best free alternative to Flatastic?

There is no single free app that does all three of its jobs. A common free pairing is Settle Up or Splitwise's free tier for costs, and Nipto or Chap for chores.

Is Flatastic good for couples?

Its site names couples, and its chores, shopping list and costs work for two. Couples who want costs split by income, or a view of time and planning, may prefer an app made for two people.

Can EvenUS be used by roommates?

No. EvenUS is built for two partners who live together and compares their weeks. For a shared house, use Splitwise or Settle Up with a chore app.

How we compared them

We read each app's own website and its US App Store listing on 3 November 2026 and only state a fact when both agreed or the app's own page said it. We give a price only when the app's own site prints it. Ratings are the US App Store figures shown that day; Google Play stars are left out. We have not run a timed test of these apps. EvenUS facts come from our own feature documentation. If anything here is wrong or out of date, email support@evenus.app.
