FamilyWall Alternatives (2026): 6 Family Organizers Compared

FamilyWall alternatives for US families: Cozi, TimeTree, Google Calendar, Skylight and Ohai compared on what is free, what costs extra and who it suits.

By · Updated

The best FamilyWall alternatives are Cozi if you want a familiar all-in-one organizer at a lower yearly price, TimeTree if the calendar is the part you use, and Google Calendar if you want it free. Skylight suits families who want a screen on the wall, and Ohai suits parents who want an AI assistant to add events from emails. EvenUS is a different kind of pick: it does not organize the family, it shows how the running of the house is shared between two partners.

EvenUS is our own app. Every fact about the other apps comes from their own websites and US App Store listings, checked on 3 November 2026, and ratings are the US App Store figures shown that day. Check prices before you pay.

Why families look beyond FamilyWall

FamilyWall is a broad organizer: 4.8 from 25K ratings on the US App Store when we checked. Its free features include a shared calendar, shopping lists, task lists, recipes, messaging and a photo gallery, on phone, tablet and web. One Premium subscription covers everyone in the family circle.

The question for most families is what sits behind Premium. Its App Store listing puts the meal planner, budget, documents, Google and Outlook calendar sync and the family locator in the Premium plan. Premium is $44.99 a year with a 30-day free trial on its site. The monthly price was $4.99 on its site and $7.99 in the App Store when we checked, so check where you are paying. If you only use one or two of those Premium features, a simpler app may do the job for less.

1. Cozi: best like-for-like swap

Best for: families who want the same kind of organizer and a lower yearly price for the upgrade.

Cozi gives the whole family one account with a color-coded calendar, shopping and to-do lists, and meal planning, on iPhone, Android and the web. The free plan has ads. Gold is $39 a year and removes them for everyone; its App Store listing says Gold also lets you work with events more than 30 days ahead. Max, $79 a year, adds AI event import and AI meal planning. You can assign family members to a chores list. Cozi vs FamilyWall sets the two side by side, and Cozi alternatives covers the rest.

2. TimeTree: best if the calendar is what you use

Best for: couples and families who mostly coordinate plans.

TimeTree is built around shared calendars for families, couples and other groups, with memo and to-do lists and chat inside each event. It is free; Premium is $4.49 a month or $44.99 a year with the first month free. It runs on iPhone, Android and the web.

3. Google Calendar: best free calendar

Best for: families already on Google accounts who do not need lists or meals in the same app.

Google Calendar is free and lets you share calendars so family members can view, add or change events, on iPhone, Android and the web. FamilyWall's Premium calendar sync connects to Google Calendar, so some families find they only needed the Google side.

4. Skylight: best on the wall

Best for: families with children who should see the plan without a phone.

The Skylight app activates and manages a Skylight Calendar, so you need a screen; the 10-inch starts at $149.99 on its site. Skylight Plus is $79 a year on its site ($39.99 a year in the App Store) and adds things like importing events from forwarded school emails and meal plans. The app also lists recurring chores and routines.

5. Ohai: best AI assistant

Best for: parents who would rather forward an email than type an event.

Ohai reads forwarded school newsletters and adds the dates to a shared family calendar, plans meals, and can send a grocery list to Instacart. There is a free version and a free trial; its site lists Individual, Duo and Group plans by the month, but App Store prices differ, so check in the app. It is listed for iPhone and Mac on the US App Store.

Where EvenUS fits

Best for: couples whose organizer works fine, yet one of them still feels like the family's project manager.

EvenUS is our app. It has no shared calendar and no locator, and it is not a FamilyWall replacement. It has a shared shopping list, reminders for birthdays, events and documents that you can export to your calendar app, a shared budget for the categories you choose, and a chore list where each chore has an owner and the real minutes are recorded.

The EvenUS shared shopping list with five items, two ticked under In the trolley, and the Done shopping button
One list on both phones; when the shop is done it becomes one shared expense.

Its point is the part a family organizer leaves out: who noticed the dentist appointment was due, who worked out which evening was free. EvenUS estimates that planning by area, counts it as hours next to paid work and chores, and suggests one swap a week. It only works for two partners, not the whole family, and it is in closed testing, so it is not on the app stores yet. One subscription covers both of you: a 7-day free trial with no card, then $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year (USD reference prices, set per region by the app stores).

Which one should you pick?

  • "We want the same thing for less." Cozi, free or Gold.
  • "We only use the calendar." TimeTree or Google Calendar.
  • "We want it on the wall." Skylight.
  • "We need help with the inbox." Ohai.
  • "We're organized and still unhappy about who does it." Read how to explain the mental load to a partner and look at EvenUS.

How we compared them

We read each app's own website or help center and its US App Store listing on 3 November 2026 and only state a fact when both agreed or the app's own page said it. Where they disagreed, we say so. Ratings are the US App Store figures shown that day; Google Play stars are left out. We have not run a timed test of these apps. EvenUS facts come from our own feature documentation.
